‘Nother Death Wobble

My ‘91 Cherokee Limited with a 6-inch lift and 33-inch tires has a horrible death wobble. All the joints are good and all are tight. I noticed that the previous owner broke one of the steering box bolts and I can see minor movement when I stand out the door and turn the wheel. It seems like the frame rail flexes. And I noticed the driver’s front tire is kicked in a bit more then the other side. Could this be the reason? Will a professional alignment and replacing that bolt be my repair?

Bila rajin merawat mobil maka akan mempertahankan performa Anda, dan juga akan lebih menghemat biaya pemeliharaan dan operasional.

Untuk itu perlu dilakukan perawatan berkala secara teratur :

1. Perawatan berkala mingguan.

Lakukan perawatan ringan, misalnya memeriksa air radiator. Perhatikan jumlah air yang tersisa di reservoir lewatbindikator, jangan sampai kekurangan air, bila kurang maka segera ditambah. Jangan pernah air di radiator sampai habis. Waspadalah bila penambahan air lebih dari satu liter. Hal itu menandakan adanya kebocoran pada radiator anda. Segera cek lebih lanjut ke bengkel terpercaya Anda sebelum kerusakan semakin parah.

Perhatikan juga air accu dengan mengecek level indicator (bisa dilihat dengan menerangi dengan senter lewat bagian belakang accu). Kondisi air accu jangan sampai kurang dari garis bawah standar, segera tambahkan air accu bila kurang. Keterlambatan dalam mengisi air accu akan menyebabkan meningkatnya kecepatan rusaknya accu Anda. Bila air accu tidak pernah kurang dari garis bawah level indicator maka accu Anda akan awet.

Perhatikan juga oli mesin. Cek dengan cara mencabut stik oli yang menempel di mesin mobil Anda, bersihkan dulu stick dengan lap bersih lalu masukkan kembali dan angkat lalu perhatikan oli yang menempel di stick tadi mengikuti batas standar garis oli, bila batas oli berada di bawah garis normal, tambahkan dengan oli yang biasa Anda pakai. Jangan sampai jumlah oli dibawah dari garis batas oli. Bila dalam satu minggu Anda harus menambah oli sebanyak satu liter maka perlu segera memeriksakan kondisi mobil anda ke bengkel langganan sebab ada kemungkinan terjadi kebocoran.

Perhatikan tekanan angin ban mobil anda, standar tekanan ban normal untuk mobil keluarga adalah 28 psi (depan) dan 30 psi (belakang). Bila membawa beban tambahan maka tekanan angin di tambahkan sekitar 2 psi. Jadi untuk depan 30 psi dan belakang 32 psi. Kalau tekanan angin kurang, ban bisa rusak juga boros bensin. Lebih nyaman bila Anda menggunakan ban tubeless untuk kendaraan, karena ban tubeless karena lebih aman, tidak langsung kempes bila tertusuk oleh benda tajam.

2. Pemeriksaan berkala bulanan

Perawatan perlu dilakukan juga dalam waktu bulanan, lakukan pengecekan pada minyak rem, bila minyak rem habis maka dapat menyebabkan rem kendaraan menjadi blong.
